APPLICATION FOR WEST VIRGINIA SOLID WASTE FACILITY PERMIT RENEWAL Permit notice no.: SW-13-18 Paper: The Charleston Gazette Public notice dates: June 23, 2018 June 30, 2018 The following has applied to the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection for a solid waste landfill permit renewal/national pollutant discharge elimination system permit: Applicant: Kanawha County Solid Waste Authority 600 Slack Street Charleston, WV 25301 Application no.: SWC-5898/WV0109100 Activity: Closure related activity only The Kanawha Western Landfill is closed and does not receive any waste. The facility is located along an unnamed tributary of Rocky Fork. The center on the site is 38º 25’ 00”N latitude and 81º 45’ 30” W longitude. The storm water discharge point is 38º25’07” N latitude and 81º45’31” longitude. All leachate will be collected and piped to the Union PSD Waste Water Treatment Plant or alternate facility, if for any reason the WWTP cannot accept the leachate. On the basis of review of the application, the Solid Waste Management Act, Chapter 22, Article 15, Sections 5(b) and 5(c); and the West Virginia Solid Waste Management Rule 33CSR1, the state of West Virginia will act on the above application. Interested persons may submit written comments during the 30-day public comment period, which begins on June 23, 2018 and ends on July 23, 2018 to the following address: West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection Division of Water and Waste Management 601 57th Street SE Charleston, WV 25304 Attention: Dawn Jones Comments received within this time period will be considered prior to any state action on the subject application. Correspondence should include the name, address, and telephone number of the writer and a concise statement of the nature of the issues addressed. The application, draft permit and any required fact sheet may be inspected, by appointment, at the Division of Water and Waste Management, Dawn Jones, at 601 57th Street SE, Charleston, WV 25304-2345, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on business days.
