APPLICATION FOR A WEST VIRGINIA NATIONAL POLLUTANT DISCHARGE ELIMINATION SYSTEM WATER POLLUTION CONTROL PERMIT Public Notice No.: L-61-19 Public Notice Date: June 26, 2019 Paper: West Virginia Daily News The following has applied for a WV NPDES Water Pollution Control Permit for this facility or activity: Appl. No.: WV0003085 Applicant: US FISH & WILDLIFE SERVICE 400 E MAIN ST WHITE SULPHUR SPRING, WV 24986 Location: WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, GREENBRIER COUNTY Latitude: 37:48:00 Longitude: 80:17:40 Receiving Stream: WADES CREEK/HOWARD CREEK Activity: To operate and maintain disposal systems and best management practices for the direct discharge of untreated aquaculture wastewater through Outlets 001, 002, 003, 004, 006, untreated spring overflow water through Outlet 005, and untreated stormwater via Outlet 007. These outlets discharge directly to Wades Creek, a tributary of Howard Creek, a tributary of the Greenbrier River. Also to operate and maintain disposal systems and best management practices for the direct discharge of untreated stormwater through Outlet 008 via a constructed wetland directly to Wades Creek, a tributary of Howard Creek, a tributary of the Greenbrier River A Tier II review was performed; however, since the new outlet 007 is storm water only, Tier 1 protection is provided for the uses specified in Title 47, Series 2, Section 6. Business conducted: Fish Hatchery Implementation: N/A On the basis of review of the application, the "Water Pollution Control Act (Chapter 22, Article 11-8(a))," and the "West Virginia Legislative Rules," the State of West Virginia will act on the above application. Any interested person may submit written comments on the draft permit and may request a public hearing by addressing such to the Director of the Division of Water and Waste Management within 30 days of the date of the public notice. Comments received within this period will be considered prior to acting on the permit application. The Director shall hold a public hearing whenever a finding is made, on the basis of requests, that there is a significant degree of public interest on issues relevant to the Draft Permit(s).
